Family Camp Weekends
Finbrooke Outdoor Center
Question: Who is eligible to attend?
Answer: All Daisy through Senior Girl Scouts and their families. At least one person in the family must be a registered Girl Scout to participate in these special weekends at Finbrooke.
Question: When is this event held?
Answer: There are two sessions:
- Memorial Day Weekend: Friday, May 25, 2002 through Monday, May 27, 2002
- Labor Day Weekend: Friday, August 31, 2002 through Monday, September 2, 2002
Question: What does this event cost?
Answer: The cost is $12.00 per tent/cabin up to 4 persons. Additional persons at $3.00 each. Fee will cover cost of program specialist, supplies and camping fee.
Question: What is the maximum number of participants?
Answer: We are limited to 160 people for this event, but we need a minimum of 15 families registered to hold the event.
Question: How do we register for this event?
Answer: Fill out and mail the family camp registration form in your Dogwood (or pick one up at the Service Center) and mail in to the attention of the Outdoor Program Director. Completed Health Forms will also be required before or during check-in.

Question: What are the Check-In and Check-Out times for these events?
Answer: Check-In for both Sessions is Friday 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Check-Out for both Sessions is Monday by 2:00 pm.
Question: What activities can we expect?
Answer: The swimming pool will be open both Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon for family swimming. Fishing is also allowed on the Finley River with a current fishing license. S'mores will be made around the Saturday night campfire. Sports equipment is available for basketball, horseshoes, etc. Hikes to the river are always enjoyable during this event. Other activities may be scheduled as volunteers take on leadership. Check this on your registration form if you are interested in helping.
Question: What about food during the weekend?
Answer: Each family is responsible for their own food and meal preparation. A planned menu for the weekend and subsequent shopping trip are recommended to prepare. Additional ice is available from the Main Lodge if needed. It is recommended that propane stoves be used instead of the white gas type.
Question: What if I can only attend for part of the weekend?
Answer: Not a problem. Just be sure to check in and out with the director so we know your plans.
Question: Are there any other things that I need to know about?
Answer: Yes. All of the rules of the camp will be in place. This includes no alcohol, no fireworks, no firearms, and no pets allowed. The gates are locked from 10:00 pm until 8:00 am. There are hot showers available in the pavilions in the camp units and at the swimming pool. Picnic tables may be shared with other families.
Question: What is the number one rule at Finbrooke?
Answer: Just ask anybody that has ever camped there before! The number one rule is: TO HAVE FUN!!!
