- Outreach- Assist in the identification and recruitment of unserved interested Special Olympics by contracting groups, agencies, and schools providing services to individuals with mental retardation.
- Volunteers- Coordinate a volunteer management system; including needs assessment, recruitment, screening, training, placement, and supervision of interested individuals.
- Computer- Assist with athlete, agency, coach, games, and volunteer computer registrations.
- Clerical- Assist at various levels of the organization with data entry, mailings, photo copying, and filing.
- Transportation- Responsible for securing and coordinating transportation to and from events.
- Buddy- "Buddies" must be 18 years or older. "Buddies" are assigned to specific athlete. They stay with the athlete for the entire day, escort him/her to events on time and help the athlete stay busy between events.

Volunteer Opportunities:
The Adopt-a -Street program is where organizations take on the responsibility to pick up litter or by approval of the Director of Public Works and maintain plantings such as trees and flowers on the public right-of-way and are recognized by name on the information signs. A minimum of 0.5 miles is necessary.
There will be Adopt-a-Street signs with the sponsors name on them. You must pick up litter at least once every two months. City will furnish trash bags.

- Stay clear of any construction projects
- Stop work in any inclement weather
- Be alert for holes and obstacles
- Watch footing when working on slopes

- Have water and other refreshments handy while working
- Avoid contact with noxious weeds
- Avoid any areas where pesticides or herbicides have been applied
- We recommend at least one adult supervisor per four children - keep children in sight at ALL times
